Danville Restaurants Best Spots For Alfresco Dining: East Bay Times

The paper named two Danville as restaurants as some of the Bay Area's best new spots for alfresco dining. The Bay Area News Group has compiled a list of the nine best new Bay Area alfresco restaurants, including two Danville restaurants. The first was the Aracely Lounge on East Prospect Avenue, a new restaurant and event space by chef Linda Edson, which offers fresh California cuisine and an outdoor space with beautiful bay and city views. The second was Isola Osteria, a Sicilian restaurant opened by Angelo Dalo, the owner of Agrodolce in Berkeley. The restaurant offers an outdoor patio inspired by the Tuscan countryside with olive trees, hanging lights, and cream-colored umbrellas over about 20 tables. The menu includes creative seasonal foods and extensive bar and menu offerings.

DANVILLE, CA — Summer’s here and the time is right for dining in the streets. The Bay Area News Group compiled a list of the nine best new Bay Area alfresco restaurants, and included two Danville restaurants.

The first was the Aracely Lounge on East Prospect Avenue. The new restaurant and event space was opened by chef Linda Edson as an extension of Aracely Cafe on Treasure Island in San Francisco, which offers fresh California cuisine and an event space with beautiful bay and city views. The new Danville location hews to the same spirit: fresh food and an outdoor space beautiful enough to host a wedding or celebration. The new patio is modeled after the Tuscan countryside, complete with olive trees, hanging lights, and cream-colored umbrellas over about 20 tables. “It’s now a spectacular place to lounge with a glass of bubblies and good company, or enjoy brunch served five days a week,” the Bay Area News Group review exclaimed.

A lot more than bubbly drinks can be enjoyed under those frilly umbrellas. The innovative menu offers fresh, creative seasonal foods, from grain bowls to carrot cake pancakes to kale and spinach shakes to bouillabaisse. The cafe offers extensive menus for brunch, lunch specials, weekend specials, desserts, pastries, dinners, and a long list of cocktails, wines, beers, and ciders. The restaurant is open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Sunday, and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday and Saturday. Visit aracelylounge.squarespace.com for more information.

Just down the road is Isola Osteria, a Sicilian restaurant opened by Angelo Dalo, the owner of Agrodolce in Berkeley. Right before the restaurant opened in February, Dalo told Patch that he chose Danville as the spot for his next restaurant because he wanted a sunny spot where people can dine outside, like they do in Sicily. At the former site of Sliver Pizza on 100 Railroad Avenue, he opened up a restaurant with two outdoor patios, including one with an outdoor bar and TV. The patios provide shade in the summer, and heating lamps in the winter, ensuring a comfortable alfresco experience the entire year. “Set apart from the busiest parts of Danville, it offers a quiet and relaxing oasis for catching up with friends over a great meal,” the Bay Area News Group wrote.

In this spacious alfresco setting enhanced by live music from different local bands, guests can enjoy Sicilian specialties like Spiedini di Pesce Spada (swordfish stuffed with garlic, onions, and other ingredients), or citrusy cocktails like the Sicilian Mule (vodka, limoncello, blood orange juice, or ginger beer), all inspired by Dalo’s Sicilian mother. Isola Osteria is open for lunch from 12 to 2:30 every day except Monday, and for dinner from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 5-9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
