Waterford Teen Critical After E-Moto, SUV Collision

A Waterford teen remains critical after his e-moto was hit by an SUV that had a green light, police say. A Waterford teenager remains in critical condition after an electric motorcycle he was operating was hit by an SUV at the intersection of Airport Road and Williams Lake Road. The teen was crossing the southbound side of the crosswalk when he disregarded a Do Not Walk signal, leading directly into the SUV's path. The Chevrolet Equinox driver, a 35-year-old Highland Township woman, was not injured. This is the latest in a series of serious e-moto collisions across Oakland County, with a 42-year man suffering multiple serious injuries when his motorcycle entered the path of a 2009 Ford Ranger, which was not registered and was not legally permitted on either the sidewalk or roadway. The incident has prompted local leaders to consider a moratorium on the devices, raising concerns about their speed and potential dangers.
