Legendary Latin jazz musician Pete Escovedo and his wife, Juanita, are celebrating 70 years of marriage. The couple celebrated their platinum anniversary with a party in Walnut Creek surrounded by about 130 family members and friends. The party included a surprise video with tributes collected by their daughter, Sheila E. Both Escovedos and their children. They first met when they were in middle school and began dating when Juanita was a student at Oakland Technical High School and Pete was attending nearby McClymonds High. Despite their differences in cultural and ethnic backgrounds, EscovedO credits his successful marriage to a strong family.
