49ers’ Shahanahn provides update on McCaffrey, others entering bye

Christian McCaffrey’s leg injury Sunday has been diagnosed as a mild hamstring strain as the 49ers head into their bye week with a first-place, 6-1 record. The 49ers are facing another injury, with running back Christian McCaffrey's leg injury, which initially was initially identified as a quadriceps issue, now being reframed as a mild hamstring strain. McCaffry is expected to benefit from this week's bye and be available for the 49ers' next game against the Raiders on Nov. 8. Other players expected to return from injury include Mike Evans, Deebo Samuel, Demarcus Robinson, Nick Bosa, Marques Sigel, C.J. West, and Luke Gifford, and Garrett Wallow. Rookie wide receiver De’Zhaun Stribling is hoping for a December comeback after ankle surgery. Despite missing a point-after or field-goal attempt in five consecutive games, kicker Eddy Piñeiro is not facing immediate competition. Shanahan also mentioned that he is considering trade scenarios over the bye week.
