DANVILLE, CA — Newell Arnerich, who has served on the Danville Town Council since 1995 and served as mayor for seven different year-long terms, is launching a bid for his eighth term.

Arnerich’s top priorities are to maintain Danville’s stellar fiscal position, keep it the safest community in California, support downtown businesses, preserve Danville’s small-town atmosphere and 43% open space, and expand community partnerships. He also hopes to complete Phase 1 of downtown improvements, and plan for the next two phases. Arnerich has lived in Danville for 38 years, and owned a business for 47 years. In his nearly 30 years on the council, he has guided the town through three economic downturns, and helped revitalize an ailing downtown. He has also helped the town maintain consistently balanced budgets, with no debt, unfunded liabilities, or post-retirement obligations.

Arnerich’s candidacy is supported by the entire Danville Town Council, and County Supervisor Candace Anderson. Arnerich and his wife Janis raised two children in Danville. He is the founder and CEO of AD Architects International, and holds bachelor and masters degrees in architecture and urban planning from UC Berkeley. He has served on a number of regional boards and committees, including as vice chair of the Tri-Valley Transportation Council and the Contra Costa Transportation Authority.

“I am proud to have been part of helping guide one of the best communities in California,” he said in a statement. “Danville is a place to raise our families, enjoy friends and live in safe community where our children can ride their bikes and walk to school. It is an honor to serve fellow residents in collective effort to make lives better. Danville is a special place that needs to be preserved for future generations.”
