Week 8 NFL power rankings: 49ers stay on top (for now) despite 1st loss
Perfect records don't last forever, and even the 49ers had to drop a game eventually. As it turns out, they weren't the only team to lose a game unexpectedly. The San Francisco 49ers have remained No. 1 in the NFL power rankings despite their first loss of the season. The 49ers lost 29-20 against the Atlanta Falcons due to undisciplined penalties and a poor defense. This is the first setback for the 49ers this year, but the bye week has arrived at a perfect time as they are returning from injury. The Minnesota Vikings are currently the last undefeated team remaining, but they could potentially be a nightmare team for the playoffs due to their defense. Meanwhile, the Jacksonville Jaguars are still being considered fraud watch. The Seattle Seahawks' recent victory over the Baltimore Ravens puts them back in the top 10.
