Dublin Pride Week Registration Open

Dubliners are invited to take part in a number of volunteer activities, for which they'll be granted a complimentary lunch and Wave pass. Dublin, California, is set to host Dublin Pride Week, which will feature volunteer events, drives, and celebrations April 20-27. The cornerstone of Pride Week is Dublin Pride Volunteer Day, which includes a free compost giveaway at Emerald Glen Park and a Lawn To Garden Party. Volunteers will be led by staff from Zone 7 Water Agency to convert part of Emerald Glen park into a low-water garden and learn about water conservation rebates and gardening techniques. The city is also inviting residents to participate in a Prescription Drug Take-Back/Document Shredding/E-Waste Collection event, a free bag of free compost bag from 8-12 at Dublin residents' yard trimmings and food scraps, and a Plogging Challenge. Food donations can be donated to the Children's Emergency Food Bank.

DUBLIN, CA — Dubliners are invited to give back to their community by registering for Dublin Pride Week, which will feature a number of volunteer events, drives, and celebrations April 20-27.

The cornerstone of Pride Week is Dublin Pride Volunteer Day, which is scheduled for Saturday, April 20. Dubliners of all ages (though anyone under 15 must be accompanied by an adult), are welcome to take part in several volunteer projects around town, including: Volunteer Day lasts 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Volunteers will receive a light breakfast and tools necessary for their projects. After the projects are complete, volunteers will be treated to a community barbecue lunch at Emerald Glen Park, and a complimentary pass to The Wave for the 2024 Waterpark season.

• Lawn To Garden Party: The city is teaming up with Zone 7 Water Agency to host the Lawn to Garden Party, which will transform part of Emerald Glen park into a low-water garden. Staff will guide volunteers on how to convert grass into drought-tolerant, low maintenance garden areas. Volunteers will also learn about water conservation rebates and water-saving gardening techniques.

• Compost Giveaway: Dublin residents can take home one bag of free compost from 8-12 at Emerald Glen Park, courtesy of Amador Valley Industries. The compost is made from Dublin residents’ yard trimmings and food scraps.

• Prescription Drug Take-Back/Document Shredding/E-Waste Collection: Residents can bring prescription pills, tablets, capsules, and other solid forms of prescription drugs to the Drug Take-Back event, which will take place from 10-2 at the Dublin Civic Center. Residents can also bring old documents until 1 p.m., and electronic waste. The whole week, residents are encouraged to donate food to the Children’s Emergency Food Bank. Donations receptacles are located at the Dublin Library, Civic Center, Shannon Community Center, and The Wave. Residents can also take part in the Plogging Challenge, in which participants walk or jog, and pick up trash along the way. Five winners will be selected at random for their participation, and will receive a Plogging prize pack and mentions on Dublin’s social media accounts and website.
