Former San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle Arik Armstead finally addressed his unexpected release from the team. While Armstead understands the nature of the business, he voiced his opinion about his departure on his latest podcast.

While the Niners have moved on from Armstead this offseason, they are preparing to reward starting quarterback Brock Purdy in 2025. Yet one prominent sports media personality is warning San Francisco about potentially paying Purdy. All of that and more in today’s 49ers news!

Arik Armstead Opens Up About Low-Ball Contract Offer From the San Francisco 49ers on His Podcast

Following Armstead’s surprising release earlier this offseason, San Francisco’s former starting defensive tackle finally opened up about his side of the situation. While Armstead mentioned that he doesn’t hold any grudges against anyone involved with the Niners, he also stated that he felt extremely disrespected by their contract offer.

Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan has established himself as one of the top offensive minds in the NFL. While San Francisco has failed to win the Super Bowl during his tenure as the team’s head coach, Shanahan continues to build one of the NFL’s best offenses.

His former colleague, Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel, recently offered a promising story about Shanahan’s preparation and play-calling ability.

Despite losing Super Bowl 58 in heartbreaking fashion, the Niners are still widely viewed as the favorite to win the NFC next season.

DraftKings released their NFL win totals for each team heading into the 2024 campaign, and San Francisco was right at the top. The 49ers are tied with the Kansas City Chiefs for the highest projected win total.

NFL Head Coach Rankings 2024: Where Do Andy Reid, Kyle Shanahan, and Harbaugh Brothers Land?

While Shanahan has enjoyed a successful career as a head coach in the NFL, his failure to win a Super Bowl is holding him back a bit.

Pro Football Network’s Dallas Robinson released his NFL head coach rankings for 2024, and Shanahan isn’t the top coach in the NFC. If the Niners are able to win the big game next season, Shanahan could push for the top spot.

Why the Packers and 49ers voted against the NFL’s radical New Kickoff Rule That 29 Other Owners Voted For

Many teams, players, and fans appear to be excited about the NFL’s recently approved kickoff rule. Yet the Niners are not, given that they were one of the few teams that voted against the proposed rule.

49ers CEO Jed York discussed the reasoning behind San Francisco’s decision to vote against the NFL’s newest rule change.

York recently discussed Purdy’s contract situation and how the Niners plan to pay him in 2025. Colin Cowherd of Fox Sports issued a warning to San Francisco about potentially signing Purdy to a massive extension next offseason.

Cowherd believes that the Niners have benefitted greatly because of Purdy’s low salary cap number and that paying their starting quarterback could cause them to be in a similar position as the Dallas Cowboys.
